Visiting Scholars Program
Loyola's Visiting Scholars Program offers legal scholars the opportunity to conduct independent research and consult with a host faculty member who is an expert in the scholar's area of research. Participants in the program come from many different countries, most recently from Italy, Korea, China, and Russia. Visiting scholars have full access to the Rains Law Library resources and materials, as well as research databases. Visitors are invited to attend conferences and workshops hosted by the Law School.
Visiting scholars have the opportunity to audit one or two courses each semester, but they are not required to enroll in courses. Students will not take a final examination and do not receive a grade or grade transcript. Instead, a record of audited courses and research activity can be certified in a letter from the Director of the JSD program.
Visiting scholars are invited to campus at the begining of each semester, and can stay for one or more semester. We are currently accepting visiting scholar applications for the following semesters: Summer 2018 (May) and Fall 2018 (August). The visiting scholar application for Spring 2018 is now CLOSED.
Scholars may apply at any time by submitting the following:
- Visiting Scholars Application
- Research proposal (Two pages, 12-pt. font, double-spaced)
- TOEFL or IELTS Score
- Approximate start and end dates for the requested visit
